In the meantime, we are taking direct orders and can accept paypal, money order, or personal check if you choose to not use the online shops. Send us an email at inspinknity at gmail dot com and let us know what type of wires you'd like and how you'd like to pay. We can send a paypal invoice or give you our payment information. Both types of wires are available in silver, gold, and black in the set of 18. Both are also available in the "super long" set of 6 for reeeaaalllllly long edges or circular shawls, but not in black. So what's the difference between Premium and Ultra Fine? Here is the rundown:

The Ultra Fine wires can be used for scalloped type edges such as on Hemlock Ring, Haruni, or Damask. They are flexible enough to curve this much and more, but don’t “remember” the curve when you’re done; they return to straight. Also, if you’re using cobweb or laceweight yarns, you might appreciate their fine diameter. To do a straight edge will require more pins than with the premium wires (to hold the wire straight) but it absolutely works. Here’s a picture of my Hemlock Ring Doily on Ultra Fine wires:

The Premium wires are just a little sturdier. They can be used for arching curves, such as a neckline or sleeve top, or for a shawl like Swallowtail Shawl, Gail aka Nightsongs, or Annis (from Knitty.com) but wouldn’t work for the “S” type curves as mentioned above. They too return to straight on their own, which is a great feature because your wires are fresh for each project without kinks or bends! Here’s a picture of a scarflet I did on premium wires:

Anyway, I hope this helps demonstrate what is so special about these blocking wires, and if you'd like to purchase a set they are available at my etsy shop inspinknity or my ebay shop.

Thanks for visiting!

Premium and Ultra-Fine Blocking Wires

As you may or may not know, I am now selling my own sets of blocking wires in two weights. The premium wires are a very flexible wire that I find useful for blocking any knitted items, from sweaters to lace. The ultra-fine lace wires are designed specifically with lace in mind. The lightweight superelastic wire can bend and curve as you need it to for those scalloped edges and picot points. Here's a picture of my Hemlock Ring Doily on just 3 of my super-fine 36" wires and only about 25 pins... and it only took me about 25 minutes to block. Beat that!

What's different from all those other wires out there? It's the superelastic, non-corrosive properties of the wire that make this a completely different product. The wire has memory, and "wants" to be straight, so when you arch or curve it, it forms a beautiful smooth arc. A couple of pins will hold it in place, and hold the perfect resulting curve. Look at how I manipulated it for the doily:

These wires are now available in my etsy shop: www.inspinknity.etsy.com. I hope you'll check them out, and see what others have said about these wires in my feedback page. I am sure you'll love them if you give them a try!

This is just a small sample of what we have in our shop.
